Case Scenario

Caroline is a young woman who has recently returned from a month-long holiday to Fiji. She visits your community pharmacy to ask for treatment of an itchy rash that she has had since her return, which she attributes to mosquito bites. You examine her hands and lower legs, identifying inflamed papular lesions as well as faint lines under the skin. Caroline mentions that she spent a week at a rural school in Fiji volunteering to rebuild buildings damaged in a cyclone. She spent time in close contact playing with school children.
